One of the first questions we hear from event organizers is simple: How much does a drone light show cost?
There isn’t one price that fits every show. The cost depends on the number of drones, the complexity of the creative, the event location, travel requirements, show length, music synchronization, and the needs of the venue.
At Visual Advantage, we currently offer 100, 200, 300 and 400-drone shows, with 300 drones being our most popular show size. Each show is planned around the event rather than pulled from a one-size-fits-all package.
Drone Count Is One of the Biggest Pricing Factors
The number of drones has a major impact on both the scale of the show and what can be created in the sky.
A 100-drone show can create recognizable shapes, text, logos and animated sequences while keeping the production relatively compact.
Moving to 200 or 300 drones gives our designers more points of light to work with, allowing for additional detail, smoother movement and more complex formations.
A 400-drone show offers the greatest level of detail and creative flexibility in our current fleet.

Custom Design and Animation
Every event is different.
Some clients want their logo in the sky. Others want text, themed imagery, animated characters or a sequence that tells a story from beginning to end.
Clients can also be as involved in the creative process as they want. You can come to us with a detailed vision, a few ideas, or simply tell us about the event and let our team develop the creative direction.
More detailed animations and sequences generally require more design and programming work, which can affect the overall cost of the production.
Event Location and Travel
Visual Advantage is based in Richmond, Virginia, but we travel throughout the East Coast for shows.
The event location can affect pricing because our team needs to transport the drones and supporting equipment to the venue. Depending on the location, travel and lodging may also be part of the project.
Before a show can take place, we also need to evaluate the venue itself. Launch space, audience placement, surrounding structures and the airspace all play a role in determining whether and how a show can be performed.
Show Length and Complexity
Show length is another factor, but a longer show isn’t automatically a better show.
Each additional formation or animation has to be designed, programmed and incorporated into the overall sequence. A shorter show with strong pacing and memorable visuals can often have more impact than simply keeping drones in the air longer.
We focus on creating a show that fits the event rather than stretching a production to reach an arbitrary runtime.
Music Synchronization
Drone shows can also be synchronized with music.
This allows the movement and transitions in the sky to follow the timing of a soundtrack, creating a much more complete experience for the audience.
If music synchronization is part of your event, that becomes another consideration during the creative and production process.
